The art of uk motoring artists

Dixon John

Year working: 1920 - 30's

Quality artist who illustrated front cover designs for The Autocar magazine and painted other motor racing scenes. Earliest work seen is a Zenith carburettor advert in The Autocar dated 7th March 1924. Seems to have been a staff artist for Car Topics as there are a series of front cover illustrations from at least March 1925 to July 1927 featuring his work. Article by him and photos of four of his paintings in The Autocar 12th February 1932. Also did a run of front cover designs for The Motor Cyclist Review in 1927.
